When
dungeoneer Tony from
Team 5 of Series 2 found a flagon on Level 2 and tipped it, intending to pour out any liquid within, a ghostly, larger-than-life image of
Merlin appeared in the room. After a strained conversation in which the wizard struggled to hear Tony, Merlin declared, "I'm not carrying on long-distance conversations on the Spirit Level. It's far too tiresome." Although he carried on talking, he was cut off mid-sentence, and his image disappeared.
This appears to be a pun. Flagons traditionally contain
alcohol, or spirit - which can also mean ghost. "Spirit Level", then, seems to refer to a channel through which remote, incorporeal conversation is possible within the
Dungeon.
